François Janssens is a policy officer in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). Within the unit focusing on the quality, safety, and innovation of medicinal products, he is responsible for issues related to access and affordability, contributing to the implementation of Europe’s Pharmaceutical Strategy.
Before joining the European Commission, François worked as a children and youth psychiatry trainee, gaining valuable clinical insight into the challenges faced by patients, families, and healthcare systems. He holds a master’s degree in medicine from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a master’s degree in global health from Universiteit Gent, through which he developed a strong interest in tackling complex challenges across sectors and disciplines.
