Marco Boeri

Marco Boeri is the Director of Preference Research and Global Lead of the Patient-Centered Outcomes at OPEN Health and honorary professor in practice in health economics at Queen’s University Belfast (UK).

Dr. Boeri has almost 20 years of experience in preference assessment in environmental and health economics, with extensive knowledge and expertise in experimental design, survey deployment, and modelling data from preference studies in health. Dr. Boeri has a specific interest in the econometric analysis of heterogeneity in discrete choice experiments and comparing various stated preference methodologies at the individual, household, and sample level.

He co-chaired the key project on preference heterogeneity promoted by ISPOR’s Health Preference Special Interest Group in 2021-2022, is past chair of the ISPOR Health Preference Special Interest Group and is co-chair of the Benefit-Risk Special Interest Group at the PSI conference.

Dr. Boeri received a Wellcome Trust seed award in 2015 to study societal preferences for antimicrobial resistance interventions and policies. He has co-authored the first applications of the random regret minimization model in both environmental and health economics, and published over 60 peer-reviewed papers, including several in applied economics journals across several fields of application, including environment, transportation, marketing, food, energy, health, pharma, and behavioral economics.
